Michaela Curcio
Finding my passion at an early age, I started dancing when I was 5 and haven't been able to stop since. I danced competitively throughout middle and high school and started my role as a Teachers Assistant when I was 14 years old. This later progressed into a head teacher/choreographer role my Junior year of high school.
I am a 2021 graduate from Roger Williams University with a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Minor in Dance and Performing Art Studies. Throughout my four years at Roger Williams, I was active in my dance community where I choreographed multiple hip hop, jazz, contemporary, and modern pieces for Dance Club and Dance Theatre. As a college student, I became a Guest Choreographer teaching Hip Hop for competitive teams in the Capital Region such as Art In Motion Dance Academy and Cheer Intensity's Dance Team.
After college, I worked as a Project Engineer for 4 years, digging deeper into dance and fitness in the evenings. After traveling to Europe extensively I now reside in Albany where I am the head of the dance department at the Academy of Holy Names, teach hip hop and contemporary at three dance studios year-round, train my dancers for competitions, and lead short session classes for kids, adults, and senior citizens through Albany County Parks & Rec.
